A panel on "Youth and Violence" was organized at Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) in coordination with the Burdur Governorship and in cooperation with the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services.

The program started with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem, followed by the presentations of the panelists. The panel was chaired by the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Dr. Firdevs Savi Çakar. Çakar said, "We should not talk about violence only on one day. We need to increase awareness of violence over time and on different platforms. Our aim is to talk to our young people as a model of a person who actively fights against violence, can stand against violence, can protect themselves against violence, but at the same time does not exhibit attitudes and behaviors that perpetuate violence, and who also develops themselves well as an individual. In this context, we will address violence in different topics in our panel."

After the opening speech, the panel began. In the panel, Prof. Dr. Özlem Tagay, a faculty member of the Guidance and Psychological Counseling Department of the Faculty of Education at MAKÜ, gave a presentation on 'Violence as a Psychological Phenomenon'; Assoc. Dr. Canan Gönüllü, a faculty member of the Sociology Department of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, gave a presentation on 'Media and Violence'; Prof. Dr. Zeynep Karataş, a faculty member of the Guidance and Psychological Counseling Department of the Faculty of Education, gave a presentation on 'Recognizing Violence in Friendship Relationships, Peer Bullying'; and Specialist Psychological Counselor Umut Aydoğdu gave a presentation on 'Institutional Mechanisms in Combating Violence'.

After the presentations, certificates of appreciation were presented to the panelists by Deputy Governor Yasin Özcan.

At the end of the program, which continued in a question-and-answer format, awards were also given to the students who participated and ranked in the painting, composition, and poetry competitions organized among primary, secondary, and high school students with the theme of "Happy Family" in cooperation with the Provincial Directorate of National Education and the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services.
